Next week Princess Madeleine of Sweden's second child, baby Prince Nicolas, will be baptised on Sunday 11 October. Members of the Swedish royal family and close friends will attend and it seems Madeleine's younger brother Prince Carl Philip will play an important role.

According to local publication Expressen, Carl Philip has been chosen as one of Nicolas' godparents.

The 36-year-old royal, who recently married Princess Sofia in June just two days before his nephew arrived, is already a godfather to his three-year-old niece Princess Estelle.

Baby Nicolas, whose full name is Nicolas Paul Gustaf, was born on 15 June at Danderyd Hospital. He is the second child and first son of his parents Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill and upon birth, he became the sixth-in-line to the Swedish throne.

Alongside his uncle Carl Philip's wedding, Nicolas' christening will be one of Sweden's most important events. The ceremony, which will start at noon at the Drottningholm Palace Chapel, will be broadcast on national television.

Nicolas will wear the same christening robe that his older sister Princess Leonore used for her baptism last year, as well as cousin Estelle, the Swedish royal palace has confirmed. In keeping with tradition, the water used at the christening will come from a spring on Öland.

The officiating clergy will be The Most Reverend Antje Jackelén, Archbishop, assisted by The Right Reverend Lars-Göran Lönnermark, Bishop Emeritus and Chief Court Chaplain, and The Reverend Michael Bjerkhagen, Court Chaplain and Rector of the Royal Court Parish.

After the ceremony there will be a reception for invited guests, after which a private lunch will take place for the immediate family and representatives of the Riksdag and the government.

Since Nicolas' birth, Madeleine and her family have relocated to London where they will be based for two years.

"We always planned on moving to London but then the baby was born and we thought it would be a good idea to stay in Stockholm for a bit," Chris, who works as a businessman, told Expressen. "I don't want to be alone in my hotel room every night. I want to go home to my family and have dinner together. Nothing else matters more."

The couple married in June 2013 in Stockholm and welcomed their daughter Leonore in February 2014. Ten months later it was announced that Madeleine was pregnant again with the couple's second child.
