Following the news that Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and Princess Sofia are expecting their first baby, there's no doubt that the royal couple have received plenty of parenting advice from their family and friends who already have children.

Carl Philip's younger sister Princess Madeleine has two children under two, while the future queen of Sweden Crown Princess Victoria is pregnant with her second baby.

But it sounds like Sofia and Carl Philip have their own strategy.

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are keeping their baby's gender a surprise

"I'm taking advice calmly and as it comes," said the princess. Laughing, she added: "The best thing is not to listen to too much advice!"

Sofia, who said that she was "feeling great", also revealed that she and Carl Philip have been on babysitting duty for their nieces and nephew.

Her sister-in-law Madeleine is the proud mum to baby Nicolas and 22-month-old Princess Leonore, while Victoria has a three-year-old daughter Princess Estelle.

The parents-to-be have looked after their nieces and nephew, including little Princess Leonore

"We've looked after them before," said Sofia. "Right now it's a little difficult with Leonore and Nicolas because they live further away, but we're more than happy to look after them."

The royal children live with their parents Madeleine and Chris O'Neill in London. The family relocated to the English capital in autumn for businessman Chris' job.

As for her baby's gender, Sofia insisted: "It'll be a suprise!"

Sofia said she was "feeling great" in her first pregnancy

According to HELLO!'s sister publication HOLA!, Sofia was making the comments at the Global Child Forum earlier this week.

The princess attended the annual forum at the royal palace in Stockholm with her parents-in-law King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia – who hosted the event – and Princess Madeleine, who had flown in especially for the forum.

While royal fans were eager to see how much Sofia's bump had grown, the princess, who is four months pregnant, did well to keep it hidden. She wore an asymmetrical teal top that she paired with black trousers and ankle boots, while Madeleine, similarly, opted for business chic in a white blouse, stylish cape and black trousers.

Each year the Global Child Forum brings together 400 leaders from the worlds of government, business and civil society. It involves speeches, networking sessions, a luncheon and workshops and this year's theme was Children's Rights within the Corporate Sustainability Agenda.
