During a press briefing for the trip, Harry's communications secretary Jason Knauf was asked how concerned royal officials were that the Prince's new relationship with girlfriend Meghan would overshadow the tour.

"Not concerned at all," said Jason. "As you can see it's a very busy, full and varied programme."

He added that the trip was something "Prince Harry himself has been preparing hard for, so we're really looking forward to it".

Harry will have an entourage of ten people including Jason and three other communication officers, private secretary Ed Lane Fox, adviser Sir David Manning, two programme co-ordinators, a visit support officer and an orderly.

The Prince will carry out the 14-day visit on behalf of his grandmother, the Queen. The focus of his trip is to learn about local projects and initiatives including youth empowerment, sport for social development and conservation – causes which Harry himself continually champions.

This will be Harry's second trip to the Caribbean. In 2012 he embarked on a royal tour of the region also on behalf of the Queen, in honour of the Diamond Jubilee.
