Cindy and the York girls head for St Tropez

Some of the British monarchy's leading ladies have been sharing the white sands of St Tropez with a queen of the catwalk. Sarah Ferguson and her two daughters Beatrice and Eugenie were spotted at the chic resort last weekend, just as former supermodel Cindy Crawford was enjoying a break there with her hubby Rande Gerber. The British trio were photographed leaving the exclusive Club 55 restaurant which overlooks the beach. Eugenie, who was snapped sharing a tender embrace with her mum, kept her cool in white linen, while her sister opted for a floaty purple chiffon number.

And Sarah and Cindy obviously had the same idea when it came to dealing with the bright sunshine as both were wearing this summer's must-have headgear - a straw cowboy hat - to protect them. The statuesque American managed to make quite an impression on her fellow holiday-makers by coupling her headwear with a white bikini top and lilac micro-mini.

Local people enjoying the surf in St Tropez won't have been too surprised to see a few A-listers strolling along the waterfront, as their hometown has long been a mecca for celebrities. This year alone it has played host to Paris Hilton, Bruce Willis, Denzel Washington and David and Victoria Beckham, to name but a few.

Its popularity with the stars goes back to the Sixties when silver screen icon Brigitte Bardot became a regular visitor. Ever since then the Riviera town, where people-watching is something of a tradition, has been synonymous with glitz and glamour.
