Ever since Julianne Hough revealed her engagement to Brooks Laich last week, fans have been on the edge of their seats to see the bling, with the bride-to-be keeping it under wraps during recent appearances. But it seems she’s had a change of heart, as Julianne shared a photo of the stunning ring on her blog on Thursday (Aug. 27).
The Dancing with the Stars judge is sipping from a colourful tea cup in one shot, which accompanies a post titled "Our Engagement Story," but it's hard to focus on anything apart from the five-carat, oval diamond adorning her ring finger. In a second close-up, it's clear that the central stone is complemented by a delicate band of smaller stones.
"Although I knew Brooks was the one the day I met him, I had no idea what to expect as far as when and how he’d pop the question," she explains before telling the story of the perfect low-key proposal. "The ring itself makes me feel very feminine and takes my breath away every time I look down, which I can’t stop doing, by the way." The dancer even jokes that she wakes up in the middle of the night to make sure the bauble is still there.
The very first glimpse of the latest addition to Julianne's jewellery box came courtesy of a selfie taken en-route to see Taylor Swift in concert with a group of friends, including Nina Dobrev and Zelda Williams. Pal Riawna Capri shared the snap on Instagram on Wednesday night (Aug. 26).
While the ladies all donned glitter face paint for their fun night out, it is Julianne’s ring which stole the show – a sparkler created by Lorraine Schwartz, the jewellery designer who is also behind engagement rings for stars like Kim Kardashian.
A source told People that Julianne’s Canadian hockey player boyfriend had been working with Lorraine for months to create the perfect engagement ring ahead of his proposal.
“Brooks called Lorraine because he wanted to find the most perfect diamond that was truly beautiful and shined so bright – just like Julianne,” the source said. “ Brooks and Lorraine worked together for months to find a ring that reflected Julianne’s grace and elegance. It’s very clean, very elegant, very beautiful and the diamond is the highest quality. It just shines gorgeous.”
Julianne announced her engagement to her boyfriend of almost two years earlier this month, saying she was “overwhelmed with joy”. The 27-year-old shared a picture of herself embracing her future husband and looking down at her engagement ring on Instagram, writing: “We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiancé #love.”
The professional dancer, who previously dated Ryan Seacrest, met her fiancé through mutual friend Teddy Sears. Julianne and Teddy both starred in Curve, a thriller set for release in 2016.
