With the afternoon sun casting a golden glow and the spectacular Umaid Bhhawan Palace as the backdrop, Priyanka Chopra walked down the aisle in a hand-beaded and intricately embroidered Ralph Lauren wedding gown, her 75-foot veil fluttering behind and the couple's families looking on in awe as she and future husband Nick Jonas prepared to say "I do." The actress and singer have now shared two stunning family portrait with HELLO! Canada, one from the "white wedding" and one from the "red wedding," and shared how both ceremonies surpassed their wildest expectations.
“Being able to have two big weddings, in India, with our closest family and friends was unbelievably special,” Priyanka told HELLO! Canada. And it was clearly an incredible day for their relatives, too. The portrait from their Western ceremony shows the Ralph Lauren-clad group posing in front of the gorgeous palace. Madhu Chopra, in a pale blue dress and sheer overlay, holds onto her son Siddharth Chopra and daughter Priyanka's arms, while the Jonas group stands in a row - Denise in a yellow shirtdress with Paul Kevin Jonas Sr, bridesmaids Sophie Turner and Danielle Jonas in their pale pink gowns with their husbands, Joe and Kevin, and Frankie Jonas on the end.
"As much as we planned these weddings and this weekend, I could not have planned how perfect that sky was or how the birds flew when the music started or what the string quartet sounded like or what he looked like with the sun lighting him from the back," Priyanka, 36, said. "The Western wedding was all tears, it was all tears."
Her new husband, who wore a double-breasted Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo, was also beyond himself with joy, echoing the former Miss World's sentiments. "The emotions were running high in the ceremonies. I think especially during the Western wedding for me," shared Nick, 25, whose father officiated the ceremony. "You think your whole life about that moment and then it comes - honestly I could not have imagined for it to be as perfect as it was."
And the Hindu wedding, at which the bride wore a stunning red lehenga by Sabyasachi and a 184.5 carat diamond Chopard necklace, was just as enchanting. "It was literally what dreams are made of," Priyanka gushed. "The chanting when I walked down, the look on his face when he first saw me, the look on my face when I first saw him in his Indian finery. I mean that was definitely not something I could have planned on, how I felt. And when I heard him read his vows, I was over."
But perhaps what moved the couple the most was that their special days were a "religious mashup," and their families were thrilled to share each others' cultures - from the Mehendi and Sangeet ceremonies to the Western and Hindu weddings. The second striking family photo that the couple shared shows the Jonas crew clad in traditional Indian ensembles - the men of the family all topping their golden outfits with turbans, and the women glittering, beaded short-sleeved tops with matching skirts.
“I kind of blacked out for a minute because I was overwhelmed with emotion,” groomsman Joe Jonas, told TODAY. “This is not only my brother, best friend, and to see him marrying his dream girl, there was a lot of tears the whole weekend and a lot of smiles.” The DNCE singer, who is engaged to Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner and acted as a groomsman, also admitted that he was taking notes for his own big day - though last weekend was all about the happy couple. “This has obviously been one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen.”
The former Jonas Brother and his lady love also have their family to thank for their willingness to dive headfirst into their whirlwind relationship, which brought them to these unforgettable moments. "Both of our parents actually got married pretty quickly after meeting each other," Nick revealed. "Mine were three months and her parents 10 days. People always say 'you know when you know' - but really, 'you know when you know.'"
A few days after their nuptials, the former Bollywood star made their marriage Instagram official by changing the name she shows her 32-million fans to Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the two continued to bask in the magic of their big day. "Multiple times throughout the wedding weekend there was only one word that came to mind and that was, 'Wow,' said Nick. "From the moment I saw her walk out in the white dress and the red dress and a million other moments, 'Wow!' was the only word that came to mind."
And they'll be basking in this feeling for as long as they can. "Let us be married for a little while before we make all these big decisions. We're in our honeymoon period right now, and we will be for a very long time," said Nick. And as for children, his wife doesn't want to jinx anything. "I always say, 'Man proposes, god disposes.' So I'm not taking any chances. We definitely want kids, and when the time is right, it will happen."
