Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm celebrate losing for the win
Jon Hamm and Amy Poehler both
lost in their respective Emmy categories, but this year they made not getting a statue into a win at their
Losers Party at the Hollywood Soho House.
In fact, the pair penalized all Emmy winners looking to join
their party (namely, Tina Fey) at the members-only club by charging them a $1,000 entry
fee, with proceeds benefitting Worldwide Orphans (WWO).
Losers in attendance at the low-profile soiree included Elizabeth Moss, Bill Hader and Jane Krakowski, plus presenters like Zooey Deschanel and the comedy couple Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann.
Mad Men star Jon and
his Parks and Recreation pal Amy have
known each other for years and, after numerous losses on both sides, finally
decided to turn their lemons into (vodka) lemonade and dance their sorrows
away.
“We figured that the winners get celebrated enough,” John
said in an interview. “So we thought it was
about time that the losers get celebrated.”
According to reports, Amy and Jon
hatched the plan for their shindig last year in SNL-alum Kristen Wiig’s hotel room, surrounded by statue-less
nominees.
In the end, $30,000 was raised for WWO and all donors reportedly received
engraved bottles of scotch. Silver linings all around!
