Hilary Duff announces split from Mike Comrie

Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have “mutually decided to an amicable separation” after three years of marriage.

The 26-year-old singer’s rep confirmed the news on Friday in a statement.

“They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives,” it read. “They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son and ask for privacy at this time.”

Hilary also wrote a message to her fans on Twitter: "Mike and I are sitting here, we are so appreciative for all of your kindness & well wishes."

She continued, "Not an easy day but we're getting thru [sic] it together."

The former Disney star and the 33-year-old pro hockey player began dating in 2007. They were wed three years later in an intimate Santa Barbara ceremony, which was attended by 100 of their closest friends and family.

Together, they have a two-year-old son named Luca Cruz Comrie, who turns two on March 20.

Mike, a Canadian who was born and raised in Edmonton, retired from the NHL in 2012 due to a hip injury.

The pair were most recently spotted together on New Year’s Eve. They also took baby Luca to Disney World for the first time in December, with proud mom Hilary posting photos from the trip to her Instagram page.
