Selena Gomez thanks fans for ‘unconditional love’ following rehab stint

Selena Gomez has thanked fans for their “unconditional love” following the revelation that the 21-year-old spent two weeks in rehab last month.

The former Disney star, who has had an on-again, off-again relationship with troubled Canadian singer Justin Bieber, entered the Dawn at The Meadows recovery centre in January, though not for a substance abuse problem.

Sources say it was the singer’s parents who sent their famous daughter to the facility, because they were worried that she was partying too much.

After news of her rehab stint broke, Selena uploaded a serene photo of herself on a boat surrounded by countryside to Instagram.

She captioned the snap: “I've done everything I could to the best of my ability. Thank you for the unconditional love and cyber hugs. You inspire me.”

Selena’s stay at the facility came shortly after she announced she was cancelling her Australia tour in December to "spend time" on herself.

She said in a statement at the time: "My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them.

"But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."
