'I would pull him close': Michelle Obama gives advice to Justin Bieber's parents

First Lady and “Mom-in-Chief” Michelle Obama has some words of wisdom for troubled Canadian pop star Justin Bieber’s parents: “pull him close.”

Justin, 19, is currently making headlines for all the wrong reasons, and Michelle urged his parents to take control during an interview with Univision Radio.

“I would pull him close. You know, I don’t know if it would be advice as much as action,” she said.

“I would be very present in his life right now. And I would be probably with him a good chunk of the time, just there to talk, to figure out what’s going on in his head, to figure out who’s in his life, and who’s not.”

Michelle – mum to Sasha, 12, and 15-year-old Malia – added, “I found that to be the case with my kids. They just want you near, you know – they want that advice from a parent. They want to see you on a daily basis, because the thing is he’s still a kid. He’s still growing up. So I would pull him close.”

The First Lady, 50, made her remarks about the Canadian singer in light of an ongoing petition to have him deported from the US.

So far, more than 250,000 people have signed the document, requiring an official acknowledgment from the Oval Office. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has said the response is forthcoming.
