One month after Uma split from her fiancé Aprad ‘Arki’ Busson, the director is said to have sparked a romance with the beautiful blond actress.
“They had a thing and got together again recently,” an insider revealed. “He’s loved her for years.”
Certainly the couple seemed very cosy at Cannes earlier this month. It has even been suggested that they shared a villa together in the south of France for the duration of the film festival.
Quentin, 51, and Uma, 44, attended a number of red carpet events together at the festival, including the closing ceremony.
The willowy blonde, dressed a custom-made Marchesa gown, walked arm-in-arm with the director, and seemed very affectionate towards him as they posed for the cameras.
“There has always been an attraction,” a second insider added. “She has indulged him from time to time and that’s how their relationship has always worked.”
Uma is something of a muse for Quentin, who first directed her in the 1994 film Pulp Fiction, her breakout role. She went on to collaborate again with him as the heroine in Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2.
In a 2004 interview, Uma spoke about their special bond.
“I think we’re really different people actually, but that’s what’s fun about talking to each other,” she told the Associated Press. “We have very different perspectives.”
“He’s a very extroverted, public person. I’m a very introverted person. We’re just very different characters, but somehow or other…”
While Quentin has reportedly held long had feelings for Uma, timing has been something of an issue.
In 1998, the actress married to Ethan Hawke – the couple have two children, daughter Maya, 15 , and son Levon, 12. They separated in 2003 and divorced in 2005.
More recently, she has been in a relationship with Arpad, with who she has 22-month-old daughter Luna.
They got together in 2007, became engaged in July 2008 before calling it off in 2009. They reconciled shortly afterwards, but split for good last month.
Quentin, meanwhile, has been linked to stars including Mira Sorvino, Kathy Griffin, Sofia Coppola and costume designer Courtney Hoffman.
