With a hit show under her giant, silver belt buckle, and her debut album, Road Between, making its mark on the country music charts, Lucy Hale is well on her way to superstardom.
The Pretty Little Liars star covers Flare’s first-ever music issue this month, where she opens up about the anxiety she felt while transitioning from television actress to country music singer.
"It's very scary being open, being vulnerable, putting yourself out there at the risk of failing," Lucy tells Flare. "The scariest part is working so, so hard for something and then it not paying off. But that almost doesn't even matter to me anymore. Making the album was the best experience of my life."
Within the magazine's glossy pages, the 24-year-old brunette beauty dons a variety of haute-country looks in a cowgirl-inspired photoshoot – including a ’70s-inspired Valentino fringed dress and a pair of Tom Ford booties with a spiked heel – and gushes about Taylor Swift, who she credits for making country music “cool."

She also shares the inspiration behind her album, which she says she recorded in the wake of a messy breakup. "I don't really keep in touch with many of my ex-boyfriends,” she said. “But there are some digs in the album for sure. Taylor's untouchable. She made country quote-unquote ‘cool.' And she made it OK to talk about your problems. And be vulnerable.”
