If you want to know about travel, you’d best ask someone who is on the move, like Shenae Grimes-Beech. Based in Los Angeles, the former 90210 star is a frequent flyer who regularly jets back and forth from sunny California to her native Toronto. It gives the Annabelle Cosmetics brand ambassador a chance to catch up with family and friends – and more often than not, she says, the chance to be with her husband musician Josh Beech, too. On a recent trip to her native land, we asked the star what she needs to make every trip a memorable one.
I’ve been a fan of Annabelle products since high school. I like to have a pressed powder on hand for touching up throughout the day. I also keep an eyelash curler with me on most occasions because reapplying mascaranever works out well. Even if you’ve had mascara on for six hours, if you curl them again it makes your eyes pop. I carry lip balm or rosebud salve with me and lip colour, if I’m wearing any.
My husband comes with me everywhere and vice versa. We literally go everywhere together. Up until meeting my husband, I always had trouble sleeping. So, my mom and dad always got me dreamcatchers. I think they’re beautiful and have a really important place in my heart. Ever since finding my husband’s shoulder, I cannot keep my eyes open if I lay down so I don’t have to deal with a sleeping issue anymore.
I usually like to have some accessories on hand, depending on what I’m wearing. I tend to wear things that translate from day to night; I’m not big on crazy costume stuff. I love gold and antique silver – I designed a collection of nine pieces in those two colour variations. It consists of three long chain necklaces, a couple of rings, a couple of bangles, a pair of studs and an ear cuff. They’re all things that I’d want and would wear but couldn’t find, so I made them!

I am a big fan of Instagram. I love finding other interesting people and photographers. It’s a fun tool. But man, I can waste time on that thing! My husband is always saying, “What are you even doing?” I’m hooked. But in my day-to-day life, I’m so busy living that I really don’t think to pull out my camera very often. I enjoy the moment and I don’t want to pause and force us to reenact it, you know?
If we’re travelling on an airplane, I use that as my excuse to watch some pretty bad movies. If I’m up in the air, I’m not here nor there, so it doesn’t really count if I sit and watch all four Twilight movies! I use that as my opportunity to watch chick flicks, too.
