The famous pair were seen sitting at a corner table of a bar called The Cow, where they shared a bottle of red wine, while David also sipped on a pint of ale.

Elizabeth Freid who took the snap spoke to HELLO! and said: “My boyfriend and his friend were in the Cow pub on Westbourne Park Road, Notting Hill. Tom Cruise and David Beckham where drinking red wine by themselves, no security, no entourage.”

Elizabeth revealed that some patrons tried to take obvious pictures of the friends but the stars didn’t appear to mind.

"Tom and David didn’t pay any attention and continued talking", she added.

The former England footballer and the Hollywood actor have been friends since 2007 when David moved his family to Los Angeles, and David recently confessed that the pair held regular movie nights while he was still living in the Californian city.

Tom was recently in London as part of a huge promotion for their sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow. Joined by co-star Emily Blunt, Tom attended premieres in London, Paris and New York in one day, and also unveiled on the Graham Norton Show that he hopes to film the latest instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise in London.

David may have retired from football last year, but that hasn’t stopped him from playing a prominent role in the build-up to the World Cup.

Having already made it to Brazil – the venue for this year’s tournament – in his BBC documentary Into The Unknown, the 39-year-old star has now fronted a new TV advert, which launched in the first ad break for the FIFA tournament.

It sees David vetting a series of new, top secret innovations in sports – including drone cameras over a cricket pitch, a suit that lets viewers experience the same physical impacts as a rugby player, and the chance to play Sofa Ref in X Factor-style voting for refereeing decisions.

Ultimately he rejects each idea before unveiling the best new concept – Sky Sports 5, a channel launching in August, dedicated to European and International football.
