Jewel and her husband, Ty Murray, are calling it quits after nearly six years of marriage.
The pop-folk singer shared news of the split with fans via a blog post on her website on Wednesday.
"My husband, friend and partner of 16 years and I have decided to get a divorce," she wrote. "Ty and I have always tried to live the most authentic life possible, and we wanted our separation as husband and wife to be nothing less loving than the way we came together."
After reassuring fans that the split is completely amicable ("We truly believe we can find greater happiness apart than together," she writes), the post continues with a joint statement from the couple addressing their role as parents.
“Our dedication to our son is unwavering and we are both committed to being the best partners in raising our son," it reads.
