What began as a spat over Instagram’s famous no-nudity policy has transformed, in just a few short months, into a feminist and political debate over a woman’s right to bare her chest in public.
Spearheading the #FreetheNipple movement are young starlets like Cara Delevingne, who sees the campaign as part of a larger issue of gender inequality.

The model has been using her Instagram account to demonstrate the unfairness of the social networking app's rules about female nudity. First, she posted a photo of a woman wearing a skin-coloured bikini top, complete with realistic nipples. Next, she shared a photo that demonstrates the anatomical similarities between male and female chests.
Here in Canada, women are, for the most part, allowed to go topless pretty much wherever they like. In the U.S., however, it is illegal in 37 states to appear topless. (New York State is one notable exception.)

While critics of the campaign dismiss it as a silly stunt, it continues to pick up steam in Hollywood.
