Diary of the Week: Festival Countdown, Smythe 10x10 Collection and Mercedes-Benz Start Up

With Labour Day quickly approaching, TIFF enthusiasts got a head start at the home of PR doyenne Natasha Koifman. The big party - 200 people strong - kicked off the beginning of festival season while celebrating 20 years of Rudsak, who had their designs on display. The rain did not put a damper on anyone's spirits as guests snacked on fun self-serve fro-yo, directly from a Yogurty’s Truck parked in the driveway! Inside the event, minglers enjoyed Fancy Franks Hot Dogs, a themed cake by Cakes by Yolanda, Eat Nakd Bars, Kernels and oysters from The Portside Shucker, creating an unforgettable night fuelled by festival excitement. It's no wonder everyone was oohing and ahhhing over the event production -- Caspar Haydar Designs hit it out of the park!

It was over to Holt Renfrew's flagship store on Bloor St. West in Toronto for a grand celebration in honour of Smythe's 10-year anniversary. Co-founders and style icons Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe were the toast of the town and have certainly cemented their place as Canada's designer darlings. The energy was electric and elbow room in short supply during their fashion presentation and cocktail party. Their perfectly cut jackets, sharply tailored blazers and lively prints lined the catwalk, followed by a shopping frenzy where Smythe pieces literally flew off the racks, as though they had wings! Of course, being a fashion party, everyone looked the part and left with some of the best fall fashions on offer. Bravo girls!
