George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin enjoy a date night in Venice ahead of their wedding

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin took time out of their busy schedules to enjoy an “intimate” dinner date in Italy on Tuesday night.

The movie star and his British lawyer fiancée, who are expected to tie the knot later this month, were spotted at Harry's Bar in Venice less than one week after they attended the Celebrity Fight Night Gala together.

According to an eye witness, the couple were "all smiles as they made their way inside the restaurant and looked very much in love.”

George and his 36-year-old bride-to-be – who proudly showed off her 17-carat-diamond engagement ring – spent a couple of hours in a cozy corner at the restaurant, which is said to be one of the actor’s favourite spots.

Last weekend, the loved-up twosome made their first red carpet appearance together, after which the 53-year-old Gravity star gave an emotional speech about his future wife.

"I've met my bride-to-be in Italy and I will be married in Italy soon, in a couple of weeks. In Venice of all places! In closing, I guess what I would like to say is to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much and I can't wait to be your husband."

George and London-based Amal, who is of Lebanese origin, got engaged at the end of April after having dated for seven months.

Guests invited to their big day include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, and Matt Damon. Should the wedding take place at the end of the month, as planned, it would be around the time of their one-year anniversary.
