Tilda Swinton named 'GQ' magazine’s Woman of the Year

Tilda Swinton has been honoured as the Woman of the Year – and it’s about time! GQ magazine revealed the news on Wednesday (Dec. 3) and, in honour of the award, The Grand Budapest Hotel star took part in a very rare interview about her life and posed for a number of sexy yet sophisticated photos.

Some of the secrets the unconventional beauty revealed are fascinating.

For one, the London-born actress was a professional gambler before making it big. “When I lived in London, there were a couple of years when I didn’t really earn money doing anything else… I mean, I did other things, like I made work… But the way I made money was putting money on horses.”

She also grew up feeling like she never really fit in with her family, most of whom were soldiers or scientists. “I spent a lot of time thinking that I was some kind of foundling. That I had been a changeling, that I had been found under a bush somewhere, and that I couldn’t possibly be kin—but the more I live, the more I feel absolutely like I come out of my family.”

The interview addressed her many awards, specifically for her roles in Michael Clayton and We Need to Talk About Kevin, but focussed less so on Tilda’s status as a best-dressed A-list lady (or the fact that she’s modelling for NARS and Chanel).

Other interesting tidbits include the 54-year-old’s fondness for haggis, the Scottish Highlands, her children (17-year-old twins Xavier and Honor), springer spaniels and her partner, Sandro Kopp.

Next on Tilda’s horizon? Leading roles in two blockbusters: Trainwreck and Hail, Caesar!
