Drew Barrymore welcomed her milestone 40th birthday on the beach with friends and family. Trading the spotlight of the star-studded 2015 Academy Awards for a low-key celebration and quality time with loved ones, Drew looked happier than ever.
And it seems the actress has welcomed the next chapter of her life with open arms. In honour of her special day on Feb. 22, the actress and businesswoman treated fans to a makeup-free photo – smiling widely after a dip in the ocean and captioning the snap simply: #forty.
The mom-of-two has been looking forward to reaching her landmark birthday. In a recent interview with E! Online, she couldn’t hide her excitement as she spoke about turning 40, marriage and motherhood.
“I’m so excited,” the Blended star said as she discussed her special day, on 22 February. “I finally feel the age that I am and I’ll tell you why – I always felt older than the number I was,” the former child star explained.
“I was always too mature and adult and raising myself or running a company, or I’m only 19 and I’m a home owner. Forty feels like where I’m at. It makes sense.”
Adding to Drew’s happiness are her husband Will Kopelman, and their daughters, two-year-old Olive and Frankie, who will be one in April. Drew and art consultant Will started dating in 2011 and married on 2 June, 2012, in Montecito, California.
“I’m very happy. Marriage is great and the kids are the best,” the actress said. “I know that everyone says you’re supposed to treat your spouse as equal as your kids, but I struggle every day of who I love the most. I love them all!”
Drew recently confirmed that she will be acting “less and less” now she is a mother. “It’s hard to be present when you wake up before them and come home after they’ve gone to bed,” she said during an appearance on the Today show.
“That’s just not the way I want to have this journey with my kids at this point in their life. But maybe when they’re older, I will feel differently.”
