Life is on the upswing for new dad Dustin Johnson and his beautiful fiancée, Paulina Gretzky. As the pro-golf star won big at the Cadillac Championship at Dorval over the weekend, the two most important people in his life – his stunning bride-to-be and their two-month-old son, Tatum – were there to cheer him on.
Walking up to sign his winning score card, the golf champion saw his young family on the sidelines and beamed. "Now that's what I wanted to see," he said, as he hugged and kissed them both, a sweet moment that he would later describe as “the best part of my day.”
"It's just unbelievable,” Paulina, a model and singer, gushed to reporters. “Dustin's the best dad, he's my best friend. He's been so supportive with me and we're just there for each other. I couldn't be happier for him."
The 30-year-old athlete also explained how becoming a father had changed his life for the better.
“It's hard to describe, but just from the first day he's born, your perspective on life completely changes,” he said. “It kind of makes life a lot easier, I think, just because there's just one thing that's kind of all you think about. It definitely simplifies stuff."
Dustin surprised fans last summer when he chose to take off the rest of the golf season, citing "personal challenges." For the last six months he had been keeping a low profile, spending time with his then-pregnant fiancée – who is hockey legend Wayne Gretzky’s daughter – and her supportive family as he worked out his issues with a team of experts, including a life coach, several clinicians and even Wayne.
The golf star later revealed to Sports Illustrated that he was struggling to deal with the stresses that came along with his newfound fame and fortune after winning eight PGA events and nearly $25 million, though he reiterated hat his leave had nothing to do with drugs.
The pair, who became engaged in the summer of 2013, have yet to announce a wedding date and reportedly have no immediate plans to walk down the aisle.
