“Rachel was especially keen on the name,” says Hayden Christensen about his baby daughter’s moniker, Briar Rose, adding, “The original Sleeping Beauty is called Briar Rose. We both love Disney.” The Canadian actor and his longtime partner, Rachel Bilson, became first-time parents in November 2014. The proud father opened up about the apple of his eye during an interview on Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family.
Joined by co-star Kate Bosworth, the Vancouver native was on the show to promote his upcoming film, 90 Minutes in Heaven. In the drama, Hayden plays real-life cleric Don Piper, who claims to have spent time in heaven after being pronounced dead following a horrific car accident. Kate plays Don’s wife in the movie, which was written and directed by her husband, Michael Polish.
Rachel and Hayden have been enjoying a relaxing summer with their daughter, both at their home in Los Angeles and at their farm in Uxbridge, Ontario. According to US Weekly, the 34-year-old actor also revealed during the sit down chat that Briar will have to wait a little longer before she gets to play with the farm animals. “My daughter has seen them from afar. We don’t let her get too close, but she’s seen the sheep and seen the chickens run by.”
The normally private couple has been letting their guard down as of late, with the former star of “The O.C.” sharing pieces of her happy life on Instagram. This week, Rachel posted a portrait of her beau, captioned, “Lookin mighty fine #90MinutesInHeaven.” Also, earlier this month she posted a rare snap of her adorable little girl lounging in the sunshine with her daddy.
