Miley Cyrus protests BC’s wolf cull
Animal lover Miley Cyrus is asking her 28-million fans on Instagram to join her in the fight to stop British Columbia’s controversial wolf cull. “I ask so much of my fanz, friendz, & family… But I am shameless when it comes to making changes in the world,” she wrote.
An estimated 84 wolves were killed this year in order to help preserve the province’s endangered mountain caribou population – which are reportedly falling victim to predators. “ I am not asking for $ or much of your time just your signature so the government will stop killing these beautiful creatures,” continues the pop singer. “We (humans) are over populating while more animals everyday go into extinction! A life with more humans and less animals sounds like a very sad planet.”
Miley, who was named Peta’s Sexiest Vegetarian of 2015, makes no secret of how much she loves animals. After the passing of her pet dog, Floyd, in 2014, the singer was devastated, taking to social media to mourn his loss. Also, following her hosting duties at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, Miley surprised fans by releasing a new experimental album entitled Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, named in honour of her beloved pets that have passed away over the years.

The “We Can’t Stop” singer joins a list of celebrities who have petitioned to save animals from harm. Pamela Anderson, Sarah McLachlan and Sir Paul McCartney have expressed their anger over the east coast’s seal hunts and this summer Rachel McAdams helped Greenpeace in their efforts to protect the arctic and its polar bears by attending a rally in Vancouver and voicing a heartbreaking commercial that encouraged viewers to join the movement.
