It's been revealed that Justin Trudeau is a lifelong Star Wars fan. The CBC has released some archival footage of the prime minister, then 11, leaving the theatre after watching a screening of the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi with his father, Pierre Trudeau. "It was better than the Empire Strikes Back; at least I think so," says the youngster in the clip.
After the video hit the Internet, fans voiced their disagreement with Justin's positive critique of the movie via Twitter, with one fan writing,"Justin Trudeau is completely wrong about Return of the Jedi. Can we impeach him?" The father of three was quick to reply, tweeting "When I was a child, I spoke as a child. Here's my reconsideration" alongside a link to an interview from the 2015 Comiccon in Ottawa which sees the 43-year-old refuting his previous assessment.
Before the new movie hits theatres on Friday (Dec. 18), Justin is keeping busy by attending holiday parties and other political events, including a sit-down with Maclean's magazine during a town hall meeting on Wednesday (Dec. 16).
