While there was no shortage of memorable moments at the 2016 Golden Globes, hawk-eyed viewers were particularly curious about Leonardo DiCaprio's reaction to Lady Gaga's award win. In a short clip that quickly went viral, Lady Gaga walked toward the stage to collect her award and brushed past a laughing Leonardo – who was caught pulling what seemed to be a startled expression at seeing the "Just Dance" hitmaker as she continued to make her way through the crowd.
However, the 41-year-old has now revealed what really happened during the humorous moment caught on-camera, and admitted he didn't realize Lady Gaga was walking past him.
"Oh lord – that's trending huh," he laughed when shown the video by Entertainment Tonight. "I just didn't know what was passing me, that's all!"
It proved to be a particularly exciting evening for the Titanic actor, who picked up the trophy for Best Actor following his great performance in The Revenant.
Leonardo, who plays real-life frontiersman Hugh Glass in the blockbuster, beat out fellow nominees Eddie Redmayne, Michael Fassbender, Will Smith and Bryan Cranston for the trophy.
