"We're in love and it's really exciting,” a smitten Amy Schumer told Entertainment Tonight at this year's Golden Globes about her new romance with Ben Hanisch. In true Amy fashion, the nominee poked fun at her relationship by quipping, "Apparently having a boyfriend is the biggest accomplishment of the year for me."
And what a year it's been for the comedian. While scoring two Emmy awards for her sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer, securing her first box-office hit, Trainwreck, and premièring her first comedy special for HBO, the New York native also met the man of her dreams.
It's unclear just when their romance started, but since going public with their relationship over the holidays, Amy and Ben can't stop praising each other in public and on social media. On New Year’s Day, Ben, a furniture designer, gushed about his girlfriend on Instagram, writing, “Sometimes in life you get extremely lucky, and the smartest, funniest, most beautiful woman comes along when you least expect it. Here's to what adventures 2016 brings!”
Amy is just as open with her feelings, frequently posting adorable photos of her beau with sweet captions. Ben has already won over the actress's family and friends, including BFF Jennifer Lawrence, who admitted to Extra that she is a fan of her friend's new man. "Ben is like hot and like when I first saw him I was like ‘Ohhh’ and then I met him and I was like he's like super sweet ... he does not have to be that nice because he's hot," she said with a laugh.
Just who is Ben Hanisch? He's 29 years old and founder of the Last Workshop, a custom furniture company based in Chicago. He's been Amy's date to high-profile events like the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards and a visit to the White House. As Jennifer said, he's hot and super sweet and the biggest bonus of all, he can't stop proclaiming his love and admiration for his talented girlfriend.
