Wayne Gretzky celebrated his 55th birthday on Tuesday (Jan. 26) with his very own "Great One," his grandson Tatum. The hockey legend cuddled the adorable one-year-old as his wife, Janet Gretzky, helped the toddler sing "Happy Birthday." The precious moment was caught on camera and later shared on Instagram.
Looking relaxed in a house coat, the former Edmonton Oilers captain appears to be enjoying his retirement years. His time away from the ice became even more exciting when his grandson arrived on Jan. 19, 2015. Tatum is Paulina Gretzky and fiancé Dustin Johnson's first child and Wayne and Janet's first grandchild.
Wayne's celebration comes on the heels of Tatum's milestone first birthday. His proud dad posted a loving message on Instagram, writing "Happy 1st birthday to our son! Love you more than you know," alongside a too-cute-for-words video of the youngster dancing among a bunch of balloons.
Earlier this month, Wayne and Tatum enjoyed even more bonding time when the sports star gave his grandson a lesson in stick-handling. Passing on his love for Canada's game has always been part of Wayne's grand plan. Speaking with ET Canada shortly after the child's birth, the Brantford native admitted that he told Dustin, "I'm going to get him in skates before you get him a golf club," adding, "Dustin thinks he's going to hit golf balls first, but I think he's going to skate first."
