“I feel like it might be a little bit insane," admits new dad Ryan Reynolds when talking about the lengths he goes to when it comes to protecting his one-year-old daughter, James. "I still check on her in the middle of the night and put my fingers under her nose just to make sure she's still breathing. Is that insane?” he asks in the March issue of Men’s Health magazine.
While the Deadpool star’s actions are completely normal (and sweet!), the actor and wife Blake Lively have definitely been basking in the joys of new-parent sleep deprivation since welcoming their baby girl in December 2014. “You'll have moments where you're like, 'Did I really ride a unicorn to work? I'm pretty sure I didn't, but I don't know. Was Willie Nelson cradling my testicles this morning? It probably wasn't him, but let me check his tour schedule just to be sure,” he jokes when reflecting on the trials of having a newborn at home.
Still, he hasn't lost his sense of humour. In honour of James's first birthday, the Canadian star posted a hilarious and heartfelt message on social media. "Happy Birthday to my baby girl! Sad I lost my virginity. But thankful I have a daughter."
When he’s not being the most adorable father and husband, Ryan has been devoting all of his time to promoting his new movie. Earlier this month, the Vancouver native surprised fans at a screening of Deadpool in New York City and has jumped on the bandwagon of pop cultural hits like The Bachelor to expand the action flick’s potential audience.
