A week after attending the emotional funeral for her husband, René Angelil, Celine Dion has expressed her gratitude for the love and support her family has received over the past few weeks. "My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives," she wrote in a heartfelt letter to fans. "We have felt your love for René, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most difficult time... more than you'll ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
The Canadian singer bravely walked into Notre-Dame Basilica on Jan. 22 to say farewell to her beloved husband, who died at 73 on Jan. 14. Holding the hands of her twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, Celine walked down the church aisle ahead of her 15-year-old son René-Charles, her mother Thérèse and the rest of the Angélil and Dion families. René was then honoured during a two-hour service, complete with touching eulogies and some of Celine's most cherished songs. The singer has also extended her thanks to "the Quebec government for honouring René with a national funerals as well as the many individuals and organizations who came together to hold such a beautiful tribute in his name."
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer concluded her message with a promise, writing, "We will never forget all of the kindness that you have bestowed upon us."
Celine will continue to mourn in private before heading back to Las Vegas for René's Celebration of Life concert on Feb. 3.
