Selena Gomez is the latest celebrity to drop by Celine Dion’s show in Las Vegas. The 21-year-old starlet and her friends descended on Sin City on Saturday (Mar. 12) to attend the Canadian singer’s performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
“When in Vegas…” declared the “Same Old Love” singer on Snapchat. Outfitted in Céline t-shirts, Selena and her squad made their way into the theatre to watch the icon belt out her catalogue of hit songs. The mini Celine fanclub received the VIP treatment, complete with a backstage meet-and-greet.
And while she was just crowned the queen of Instagram after surpassing best friend Taylor Swift as the most-followed person on the social media app, Selena is a Snapchat newbie. It didn’t take long for the singer-songwriter to master the popular platform, which is beloved by stars like Kylie Jenner and Kate Hudson. Selena documented her girls night out in Vegas by posting videos of herself singing along to some of her idol's most heart-wrenching songs.
It was a highly emotional weekend for Celine, who found strength in the face of grief to complete a batch of shows following the death of her husband René Angélil. After cancelling some performances to grieve privately with her family, the singer then returned to her residency on Feb. 23 to finish off a a final stretch before a pre-planned break on Mar. 14.
Thanks to my fans and to the amazing Colosseum public, that night after night gave me the energy to go on and make a show that René would be proud of. ❤️ Merci à tous ceux qui sont récemment venus me voir au Colosseum. Vous avez su me donner l’énergie nécessaire pour continuer à faire de ce spectacle un succès dont René serait fier.
She marked the occasion by posting a sweet message to her fans on Instagram, thanking them for their support over the past few months. "Thanks to my fans and to the amazing Colosseum public, that night after night gave me the energy to go on and make a show that René would be proud of," wrote the star.
