Ben Affleck couldn't help but gush over his ex, "superhero mom" Jennifer Garner, as he attended the New York City premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. "You know, I just marvel at my mother who did a great job of raising my brother and I. Parenting is hard work but it's so rewarding and I certainly do my best," the 43-year-old actor told E! News.
"Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother and I'm really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that's what we do."
Ben and Jennifer, 43, have three children together; Violet, ten, Seraphina, seven, and four-year-old Samuel. Their little boy is especially excited about the fact that his daddy is the new Batman – but Ben has his reservations about letting Samuel see the movie.
"Well, he can see some of it," he said. "I don't know, it just depends. Every kid is different. Like, I don't know if he would be scared seeing me… If he would think that it was really me getting thrown around and crashed and hurt. I don't know if he could know the difference. So, we'll see. I’ll warm him up.
"In time. When he learns to differentiate between the fact that it's not... that I'm not really getting beaten up on camera. It's pretend, you know."
Ben and Jennifer announced the end of their ten-year marriage in June, but have remained united in their pledge to give their children a stable and secure foundation - just last month they enjoyed a family holiday together in Montana.
The Oscar winner is notoriously private when it comes to his personal life, but touched upon the split during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"So I know it's been kind of a challenging year, obviously," Ellen began. "And what I love and I think what everybody loves is that you and Jen are putting the kids first and that we see you with the kids all the time, and I think that's the most important thing and the most important message to send everybody."
"Absolutely," replied Ben. "You know, we're good friends and we're doing our best and our kids are fabulous, and we're working our best for them."
