His mother is one of the world's most famous singers, but it was another songstress that caught the eye of René-Charles Angélil at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Celine Dion's son hopped on his Instagram account to share a snap of his meeting with Rihanna. Captioned "What a night!" the adorable picture shows the 15-year-old cheek-to-cheek with the pop princess.
During the show, René-Charles, or RC as his mother calls him, had Celine in tears when he surprised her with the Billboard Icon Award trophy. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for crying. I want to be so strong for my family and my kids. And I didn't expect that. I'm so sorry," she told the Las Vegas crowd. "I don't want to cry in front of you. You make me so happy. Thank you."
The iconic singer then proceeded to thank her fans, who supported her music during difficult times. She said, “This is such a tremendous honour of course. You know music has been my passion since before I can almost remember. So many people have helped me get to where I am today. I cannot name them all... Most especially I want to thank the fans for traveling through music with me in good and bad times... my family, my mom who wrote my first song. My children.”
It's clear that RC and Celine share an unbreakable bond. The mother of three recently revealed that her son turned to her for advice after having some reservations about speaking at his father's funeral in Montreal. "At first he said 'I don't think I can do that," the Canadian songstress told People, adding that she told her son, "This is the last time you can talk to your dad. RC, it's not for me or the people, it's for your dad."
