Fresh off her adventures at the Pride Parade in Toronto, Orange Is The New Black star Samira Wiley was still in a celebratory mood when she sat down to take Hello!’s Pop Culture Questionnaire. The stunning actress held nothing back as she revealed everything from the first concert she attended to songs she’s embarrassed to know all the lyrics to and her craziest fan encounter (with a baby!). See what she had to say in the video below...
For four seasons, the Julliard alum has played fan favourite Poussey Washington on the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black. The groundbreaking series is beloved by millions and has received numerous accolades, including four Emmys.
And while awards are nice, Samira tells us that the most rewarding part of being on the show is the relationships she has created with viewers. “Just being able to look them in the face and let them know that we might be touching you but you’re touching us too.”
Samira also credits OITNB with introducing her to her longtime love and one of the show's writers, Lauren Morelli. The adorable couple aren't afraid to share their romance on social media, often posting romantic selfies and loved-up videos. If there's one takeaway from our sit-down with the star it's that love makes her world go round.
Away from Litchfield Penitentiary, the 29-year-old has stepped out of her prison uniform and into a parade of exciting roles, including the upcoming Dave Franco-fronted thriller Nerve and the hit TV comedy You're the Worst. And should South Park ever come calling, the actress has already designed a character for herself. Press play to find out her dream gig!
