Nordstrom's first Canadian outpost opened in a haze of high-fashion glory as thousands of the city's most stylish - plus supermodels Petra Nemcova and Hilary Rhoda - gathered at the stunning Eaton Centre space to shop, explore and take in the season's hottest trends. Live mannequins watched well-heeled hordes make sartorial pilgrimage across the street to Yonge and Dundas Square, where a tented fashion show gave a glimpse of what's to come, and then it was back to tipple-fuelled perusing. From the Drake-topped lattes to cans of champagne and a beer vending machine, the party was permeated with a playfulness that also extended to its mini popsicles and tiny pizzas in pint-sized boxes. Welcome to the north, Nordstrom!
All that glittered was indeed gold in the case of L’Oréal Paris, which hosted a shimmering festival wrap-up party on the rooftop of TIFF Bell Lightbox. Hordes of beautiful people mingled under the stars and sipped on gold-flecked champagne, nibbled on caramel popcorn, fried chicken and champagne-flavoured cotton candy, and danced away the stress of the work day to the beats of DJ 4Korners. Makeup touch-ups and generous gift bags left the glamorous guests feeling like they’d struck gold.
La La Land leads Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were the guests of honour at Hugo Boss's TIFF fete, where the stars mingled by the pool at rooftop haven Lavelle. Nibbling on lobster brioche and sipping cocktails well into the night, co-star John Legend and hot young director Damien Chazelle - the eye behind the whimsical winner of the festival's People's Choice Award - were also on hand to toast the musical triumph, which also nabbed Emma the Coppa Volpi award at the Venice Film Festival.
