It looks like the news of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's split was just as shocking to his best pal, George Clooney, as it was to the rest of the world. When the actor, who is good friends with the couple, was doing an interview at the Leaders Summit on Refugees at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday (Sept. 20), he seemed unaware of the breakup.

"What happened?" George asked, before being told by a CNN reporter. "I didn't know that. Wow. I feel very sorry them.
"That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that." He added: "This is the first I've heard of it."
George and Brad became close on the set of Ocean's Eleven in 2001, and went on to star together in the film's two sequels, as well as the 2008 movie Burn After Reading.
Brad and Angelina announced on Tuesday that they were splitting after two years of marriage and an 11-year romance. Angelina filed for divorce on Monday (Sept. 19), citing irreconcilable differences. She has asked for physical custody of the couple's six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox – and requested that Brad be granted child visitation rights and joint legal custody.
"This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," her attorney Robert Offer confirmed.
In a statement to People magazine, Brad said: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
The news has shocked Hollywood – and it didn't take long for Twitter to become a social media soundboard for stars mourning the end of 'Brangelina.'
"Brad and Angelina. How am I supposed to go to work today?" Chrissy Teigen wrote, while Charmed actress Alyssa Milano tweeted: "Brad and Angelina?! I'm crushed."
"Is it weird to go pull my kid out of preschool early to tell him Brad and Angelina are splitting?" joked Jenny Mollen, wife of American Pie actor Jason Biggs. Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder added: "If #Brangelina can't make it, is there really any purpose or meaning of life?"
Others took a more reserved standpoint. "It's sad about Brad and Angelina but it's also none of our business," tweeted musician Boy George.
