Bella Hadid and The Weeknd recently announced their split, but should the couple decide to reconcile in the future, they can bank on David Foster's support and approval. The Canadian music producer recently opened up to Hello! about his step-daughter's former beau, revealing his fondness for the Toronto crooner.
“He’s a great kid. He is. I love him,” said David, adding, “He’s hard-working, talented and Canadian.”
The Weekend, born Abel Tesfeye, and Bella split earlier this month after a year and a half of dating. A source confirmed the news to People, citing the couple's busy schedules as the reason behind the breakup. “Their schedules have been too hard to coordinate and he is focusing on finishing and promoting his album. They still have a great deal of love for one another and will remain friends.”
Their busy careers will intertwine next month when both attend this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Paris. Bella will make her runway debut alongside her sister Gigi Hadid and best friend Kendall Jenner, while her ex-boyfriend will perform some of his biggest hits for the angels.
Regardless of who the 20-year-old model decides to date, David insists that he hopes to maintain a close relationship with his step-daughters. “I was with them for some of their formative years and hopefully have a positive influence on them and will stay connected to my dying day,” he said.
