Shakira thanks fans for support during son Sasha's illness
Shakira took to social media on Tuesday (Nov. 15) to publicly thank her fans for their kindness and well wishes during a trying time in her son's life.
Earlier this month, the singer cancelled shows in order to take care of Sasha, 1, who was suffering from an undisclosed illness. Now, the mother of two has shared the happy news that her boy is "back to his cheerful self."
"Thanks for all the messages you sent for Sasha while he was sick," wrote the "Hips Don't Lie" singer, adding, "Everything is under control now."
Sasha is Shakira and long-time partner Gerard Pique's youngest son. The couple are also parents to three-year-old Milan.
The Columbian beauty was scheduled to perform at this year's Latin GRAMMYs on Nov. 17 and Sunday's American Music Awards in Los Angeles, but was forced to cancel both appearances after her son fell ill.
Due to personal matters, I won't be able to travel to Las Vegas & LA to attend the @LatinGRAMMYs or the @AMAs this year.

I will be accompanying @carlosvives in spirit @LatinGRAMMYs, celebrating this incredible year that we’ve shared together with #LaBicicleta

She posted a note announcing the cancellations on Twitter, in which she sent her support to fellow Colombian artist Carlos Vives, who she collaborated with on the Latin GRAMMY nominated track "La Bicicleta."
