Toronto Blue Jays star Josh Donaldson is heading to 'Vikings' territory

Josh Donaldson, one of the biggest names on the Toronto Blue Jays, is set to make his acting debut on Vikings. The show, which airs on HISTORY tells the story of Norse and Viking culture in the 13th century.

The third basemen will guest star in an upcoming episode (airing Jan. 18) as a Viking warrior named Hoskuld. A sneak peek of the episode dubbed Revenge was shared to social media on Thursday.

The clip starts out with the 2015 American League MVP getting into character in a makeup chair. "This is always something I've wanted to do," he can be heard saying.

It then moves on to him running his lines on set saying things like, "Brother, how I envy you. Tonight you will drink and feast with the Gods."

A short preview of the exact scene Josh is in is also included in the message.

For fans, the best part of the two-minute trailer may be the moment he takes a break from filming to give his current hometown, Toronto, a little love. The 31-year-old says it's an "amazing city."

At the end of the preview, the star is hugged by the cast and crew and is presented with a "hurley" and a "sliotar." Each are Gaelic tools that are used to play a sport called "hurling." (It's essentially a combination of rugby, soccer and baseball.)

Several fans have already taken to social media to express their excitement about Josh's appearance on the show.
