Alec Baldwin says infamous voicemail caused daughter Ireland a lot of pain

By Hayley Bradbrook

Alec Baldwin recently opened up about his damaged relationship with daughter Ireland. The former 30 Rock star revealed that the infamous 2007 voicemail he left for his then 11-year-old daughter has caused a "permanent break" between the two.

During an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday (Apr. 3), Alec admitted that he is still haunted by the aggressive phone call, in which he called his daughter a “rude, thoughtless little pig.” He also shared that even though the incident is constantly “thrown in [his] face every day,” it is his daughter who has suffered the most.

“There are people who admonish me, or attack me, and use that as a constant spearhead to do that. It’s a scab that never heals because it’s been picked at all the time by so many people. My daughter, that’s hurt her in a permanent way,” the father of four explained.

Now a decade later, the actor and author is in a healthier state of mind. He is happily married to wife Hilaria, with whom he has three children – Carmen, 3, Rafael, 1, and six-month-old Leonardo.

He has also made international headlines thanks to his spot-on impression of President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live and on Apr. 4 he will release his first memoire Nevertheless.
