If you plan on seeing Britney Spears in Las Vegas, you better hurry as the singer has announced that her current Las Vegas residency will end on Dec. 31. The pop super star has been performing her sold-out Piece of Me show since 2013 at the AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Britney reflected on her time in Sin City in a heartfelt statement released on Sunday (Apr. 9). “As I prepare to say goodbye to Piece of Me, I had no idea how magical this experience would be,” said the 35-year old singer before expressing how grateful she is that “fans from around the world [came] see [her] show.” She concluded the note with: “I love Las Vegas and will miss performing this show.”
The “Slumber Party” songstress also took to Instagram to tell her ‘Britney Army’ how hard it will be for her to leave Piece of Me behind. “Saying goodbye to this show is going to be SO hard,” the caption noted.
While many fans were devastated to learn that the “Lucky” star is moving on from this chapter in her career, Britney’s manager Larry Rudolph hinted that her days on ‘The Strip’ aren’t necessarily over. "Anything is possible. We have made zero decisions. We expect a lot of interest from all parties. Britney basically sells out every show, and she loves Las Vegas, she loves performing in Vegas, and Vegas is a possibility going forward," Larry told The Las Vegas Review Journal on Friday (Apr. 7).
Caesars Entertainment Senior Vice President of marketing and entertainment Jason Gastwirth was quick to extend an open-door policy to Britney should she ever want to perform at any of the company’s properties. "Caesars Entertainment has always led the evolution of Las Vegas entertainment. Britney's emergence in this market paved the way for other artists to make Las Vegas their home and as a result, the top entertainment destination in the world. We look forward to working together with Britney again in the future. We are delighted that Britney has called The AXIS at Planet Hollywood home for the last four years," he said in a statement.
Britney’s show has been a hit since it opened in December 2013 and to date has grossed over $100 million in ticket sales. Piece of Me has also been a must-see show for many of the world’s top talents, including Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and more.
