Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleckhave officially filed for divorce, almost two years after announcing their separation. The former couple filed the documents together and want joint legal and physical custody of their three children, but the division of any property and spousal support is yet to be decided.
It is believed that Jennifer and Ben didn't have a prenuptial agreement, so the earnings they made during their marriage will be split equally unless decided otherwise. The amicable duo will keep the earnings they have each made since their separation.
Ben and Jennifer announced their split in June 2015 after ten years of marriage. Confirming the news in a statement, they said: "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
The pair have since remained dedicated to co-parenting their children - Violet, 11, Seraphina, eight, and Samuel, five - and have sparked several rumours of a reconciliation due to their continuing friendship. In a candid interview with Vanity Fair in 2016,Jennifer admitted that her ex was "the love of [her] life," while opening up about her high-profile split. "I didn't marry the big fat movie star; I married him," she said. "And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again."
Jennifer, 44, continued: "You can't have these three babies and so much of what we had. He's the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He's the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He's just a complicated guy. I always say, 'When his sun shines on you, you feel it.' But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it's cold. He can cast quite a shadow." Ben, 44, has also sung Jennifer's praises since their separation, calling his wife the "world’s greatest mom".
