Eleven-year-old Alberta native Brooklynn Kelley’s dreams came true on Saturday (May 6) when country music star Thomas Rhett invited her on stage during the Edmonton stop of his Home Team Tour. The unforgettable fan moment was made possible thanks to a group of fellow concert goers and the power of cellphones.
Speaking to Global News, a fan named Jamie Pucci said he noticed Brooklynn, who suffers from the autoimmune disease Alopecia, standing near the stage holding a sign that said “make me a star of your show,” a play on words of the 27-year-old hit song “Star of the Show.”
“As soon as we arrived at the show, we noticed a little girl sitting next to us,” he explained, adding that he really wanted to help turn her dream into reality.“As soon as the concert started, I began spreading the word to people around us and my girlfriend started telling the people around her that we should get Thomas Rhett’s attention,” he told the news outlet.
As soon as Thomas started singing his catchy tune, Jamie and company put their plan in action and rallied together to shine their cellphones on Brooklynn in hopes of catching the singer’s attention. “We ended up bringing her to the front of the stage on top of another man’s shoulders and Thomas Rhett ended up pulling her up on stage,” Jamie explained.
Once Brooklynn was on stage, she shared a tender moment with the singer, hugging him and taking several pictures to remember the special night.Jamie added how happy he was to play a part in helping Brooklyn meet her idol. “It was really cool! We did the right thing — we changed something for this girl,” he exclaimed.
Following the concert, the youngster’s mother explained to Global Edmonton News how much the meeting meant to her daughter. “She talks about him constantly. So, to go onstage with him, that was something she’ll never be able to forget, and it’ll be with her forever. He just made her feel so special.”
