“I’m honoured to be able to offer words of enthusiasm, encouragement, and strength, in support of pride and all of my friends in LBGTQ community,” the French-Canadian superstar wrote, before adding that she believes that like music, love has no boundaries.
“I’ve always said that music is a language that has no barriers, and it’s also true that love is an emotion that has no barriers,” she explained.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer went on to voice how lucky she feels to have been able to work with people from the LGBTQ community throughout her career and thanked all of her fans who have supported her over the years. “I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by so many beautiful people from the LGBTQ community throughout my entire career… Who have contributed significantly to my success and [thank you to] many of my loyal fans who have stood by me, in the name of love,” she said.
Celine’s admiration for her fans didn’t stop there. The 49-year-old singer confessed how they all have “made such a positive impact in [her] life,” adding that she hopes that people around the world will keep accepting other people’s differences. “I pray that our world will continue to better understand that acceptance and tolerance are virtues that we can never have enough of,” Celine stated.
The mother of two finished the lovely letter by sending everyone “[her] love” and wishing them all a life full of happiness and joy. “Wishing you peace and happiness, today, tomorrow and beyond.”
Celine is one of many stars to take part in Billboard’s unity campaign. Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Kelly Clarkson, Lea Michele, Liza Minnelli and Canada’s own Tegan and Sara also wrote sweet notes.
