Creating a balance between a busy career and motherhood can be difficult, especially when you’re a mother of two toddlers!Eva Mendes recently opened up about the challenges she’s faced since becoming a mom, like the guilt of leaving her children to go to work.
The Hollywood star told E! News at the launch of her latest collaboration with New York & Company that she didn’t realize how guilty she’d feel having to tend to her career, “Oh my God, nobody warns you about the guilt that you feel when you do work!”
Eva, 43, went on to confess that she isn’t quite sure how she does it at all, “I don’t know how I find balance, because I think it is like a day to day kind of struggle, you know?” Luckily for the actress, she has the support of her long-time love and super dad Ryan Gosling.
Practicing self-care is also extremely important to The Place Beyond the Pines actress, but now that she has daughters Esmeralda, 3, and 16-month-old Amada depending on her, she questioned if she’ll ever be rid of guilt. “I’m all for obviously taking care of myself—that’s how I can take care of them of course—but that guilt that is just kind of always there. It’s like, ‘Ugh, this is going to be there forever now.’”
Despite being a total fashion maven, Eva lets her children wear whatever they feel like. #MomGoals, much? She clearly appreciates the beauty of being a child, “Literally, you want to wear jammies all day? Wear jammies all day. Like, to me, it is such a beautiful time to be a kid and not have, you know, no pressure,” she shared.
Proving she’s mother of the year, the star decided to forgo her seat at the Oscars last year to be home with her kids. But truthfully, she admitted to Shape Magazine, she’d rather be at home anyways, “What people don’t know about me is that I love being home. Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.”
