Justin Trudeau has proven he can fashionably multi-task! While the Canadian prime minister typically opts for simple suits during public appearances, he is less than conservative when it comes to his sock wear.
On Sept 20, Justin took Manhattan by storm when he rocked a pair of Stance Star Wars-themed socks at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum with Melinda Gates. The quirky accessory was decorated with the adorable face of Han Solo’s best animal friend, Chewbacca.
The father of three's socks are more than just a fashion statement, they are helping change the lives of those in need. US-based company BoxLunch will donate $10 from every purchase of the socks to Feeding America – a national organization that provides much-needed donations to food banks and shelters.
Over the course of his time in office, the 45-year-old leader has owned the eclectic sock game. He walked in Toronto's Pride Parade wearing perfectly appropriate rainbow coloured socks and has multiple pairs bearing the maple leaf.
Like all true style stars, Justin knows when to scale back. He opted for classic black socks to attend Toronto's first Women of the World conference on Sept 11. While there, the PM delivered powerful messages on feminism and justice, taking time out of his speech to both applaud his wife Sophie’s activism and dedication to women’s rights and thank her for the support she has given him throughout his political career.
“I knew that if I went into politics it would be not with a wife but with a partner and it was essential for me that Sophie be part of my values, my strategy, my approach,” confessed Justin, adding, “She is an extraordinary partner who challenges me, who pushes me. Yes, she does a little more at home than I do, actually she does a hell of lot more, but she’s extraordinarily active on a broad range of causes and issues and is out there pushing and fighting and is a constant inspiration to me.”
