Drew Scott’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ recaps

WEEK 9: Tango
Drew Scott got back to his roots with an ode to his Scottish heritage… but with a tango twist! The Canadian star, along with dance partner Emma Slater, decked themselves out in plaid to pay tribute to his ancestral homeland. The Property Brother even tried a kilt on for size in preparation for his wedding day!
The dancing duo remain at the bottom of the leaderboard entering the semi-finals and, unfortunately, lost marks for their lack of precision. While all of the judges agreed that the entertainment value was on point, British judge Len Goodman confessed, “You lost your posture, you lost your technique.” Bruno Tonioli agreed, adding that Drew got too caught up in the character and “lost a little bit of the style of the dance."
Regardless, the two still were awarded relatively high scores for the evening and continue on towards the finals and the coveted Mirrorball prize!

WEEK 8: Cha-Cha
Watch his performance here!
This tantalizing trio definitely got up off their things for their James Brown disco-themed cha-cha! This week, dynamic duo Emma Slater and Drew Scott were joined by reigning champion (and Emma’s former partner!) Rashad Jennings for a groovy routine!
The three pulled out all the stops for their soulful, upbeat choreography, decked out in matching glitter ‘70s-inspired getups and surrounded by disco balls. It’s hard to compare to last year’s champ, but the 39-year-old Property Brother definitely did his best and let his “swag coach” show him the ropes.
Drew was somewhat out-danced by Rashad, Bruno Tonioli admitted, saying, “It was only the cha-cha proper that your timing was sometimes not quite on it.” While Carrie Ann Inaba was smitten by the energy of the routine, praising Drew for being an “excellent student,” British judge Len Goodman commended the trio for contributing equally to the performance.
As we near next week’s semi-finals, it’s looking like our favourite dancing duo will have a sure shot at the Mirrorball prize!

WEEK 7: Charleston
Watch his performance here!
The theme may have been Day of the Dead, but Drew Scott and Emma Slater’s routine was everything but! The dancing duo killed it with a spooky, quirky Charleston after last week’s poorly received Paso Doble.
The 39-year-old let his “weirdo side out” with Corpse Bride-inspired choreography. Despite suffering a slip on-stage due to fog, the powerhouse pair played it off perfectly—even judge Carrie Ann Inaba thought it was part of the routine!
Not one judge had a single critique! Bruno Tonioli declared the spectacle “murder on the dance floor at its finest,” while Carrie Ann thought it was one of their "best dances so far!” British judge Len Goodman, who’s notoriously hard to please, was flabbergasted by their energy and technique, “Last week you were dead and buried, and this week you’ve come back to life!”
Drew and Emma continue to improve with each dance and with only three weeks left until the Mirrorball Trophy is handed out, we think they have a good shot at taking it home!

WEEK 6: Paso Doble
Watch his performance here!
Drew Scott karate chopped his way into guest judge Shania Twain’s heart on Oct. 23 thanks to his an action-packed Paso Doble! While he managed to bring the intensity the dance needs, Drew's lack of finesse was called out.
This week, the 39-year-old drew inspiration from his background in karate. The routine started with the Property Brother kicking down a door and later showing off his agility with an impressive diving somersault!
Canadian crooner Shania loved it. “The balance between the feminine and the masculine strength was very well executed,” said the superstar. Unfortunately, the house judges didn't agree. Carrie Ann, who normally sings his praises, said, “Your energy was explosive but you didn’t pull it back down for the dance.” While Bruno Tonioli did critique his awkwardness, he exclaimed excitedly, “This was like Mission: Impossible meets The Matrix.” The always hard-to-please Len Goodman warned Drew and Emma that they might be in jeopardy for elimination.

Drew Scott transformed into the ultimate Prince Charming on Oct. 16 for a romantic Viennese Waltz! Week five’s Disney theme brought both theatrics and high scores for the 39-year-old.
Drew and Emma dazzled in beautiful white outfits as they danced in harmony to “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppets. Thanks to hours in the studio and a little Disney magic, the duo danced their way to some of their highest scores to date.
Carrie Ann Inaba gushed about their “absolutely pure” chemistry, and Bruno Tonioli had to agree, “I was expecting Gonzo and I got Prince Charming!” Len Goodman, typically the hardest one to please, praised the homegrown talent for his improving technique, “Your footwork was terrific. I’m enjoying watching you dance.”
We must not forget the evening’s honorary judge Kermit the Frog, who gave the dancing duo a perfect score of 10. “You were both amazing! You floated across the dance floor like a pair of tadpoles who just dropped their tails,” gushed Kermit.

WEEK 4: Jive
Watch his performance here!
Before becoming a bona fide star on HGTV, Drew Scott had dreams of becoming an actor. But, as the Property Brother revealed on Oct. 9’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, dreams don’t always come true. “My true goal was to be an actor on TV, so I decided to go all in and I moved to Vancouver," he explained, adding, "It didn't pay off. When you have a dream in mind and you want it so bad and you fail, it crushes you."
Drew turned that disappointment into a new dream and with his brother Jonathan by his side, has become one of TV’s most recognizable faces.
In a week where dancers were asked to channel a memorable year in their life, Drew asked Jonathan to help him recreate his journey to stardom – and the judges LOVED the surprise addition to the team.
British judge Len Goodman exclaimed, "I don't think anything's going to stop you now!" Bruno Tonioli declared it a "full-on Jive with a feel-good factor," while Carrie Ann Inaba commended him on tight dance moves.

WEEK 2: Rumba
It was an emotional evening for Drew Scott as he mastered the rumba for Dancing with the Stars’ Latin night. After finishing his dance, the 39-year-old ran over to give his fiancé Linda Phan a sweet kiss and when he returned to receive his critique, he was seen wiping away tears. “When she cries, I cry,” he told the judges.
His moves, which he's perfecting for this wedding dance, finally impressed Len Goodman. “I think that was your best performance yet,” he told the star. The British judge has been rather hard on Drew, often calling him out on his technique and giving him low scores.

WEEK 2: Quickstep

Drew Scott is in it to win it! After his surprisingly low scores in week one, the realtor is back. What made Drew and partner Emma Slater's quickstep even more impressive was the revelation that the 39-year-old danced through an injury he suffered in practice.
While British judge Len Goodman still had issues with Drew's technique – calling his moves “too loose and too gangly” – the dance expert applauded his enthusiasm. Both Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli loved his routine, adding that they thought he brought major star quality and Hollywood style to the quickstep.

Drew Scott foxtrotted his way to eleventh place on the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars. The 39-year-old is one of 13 stars competing in the show's 25th season.
Prior to Drew stepping into the spotlight, his brother Jonathan gave a little back story to his twin's dance history. "I saw Drew dance at his high school prom. I saw Drew dance at nightclubs. The dude does not have any moves!"
While judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli grilled the Property Brother on his finesse, judge Carrie Ann Inaba applauded him for his "musicality."
