Shania Twain reveals top picks for 'Divas Live' revival

Should VH1 ever bring back Divas Live, former “Diva” Shania Twain has appointed Rihanna and Taylor Swift as the perfect singers to lead the concert special.

The country crooner shared with PrideSource, “[Rihanna is] just so awesome. I love her voice; I never get tired of it. Never, never. And we hear it so much on the radio, right? She’s every second song on the radio and I just never get tired of it,” gushed Shania.

The Canadian musician also nominated a star who, like her, started her career in country music. “Taylor would be a good one. She’d be a must on Divas, for sure. She’s awesome,” Shania enthused, adding, “She’s such a great creative person and a super songwriter and really uses her brain, so it’s lovely to watch her.”

Since its inaugural showing in 1998, many of the world’s top vocalists have hit the stage, including Cher, Whitney Houston, Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson.

But Shania, 52, is part of the original group of ladies who helped bring VH1 Divas Live, a benefit concert in support of the channel’s Save the Music Foundation, to life. Joining her on New York’s Beacon Theatre stage were iconic musicians like Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Gloria Estefan .

The singer, who has made an amazing comeback after a 15-year hiatus, revealed she had major hair envy for Mariah back in the day. She wanted to make sure her own hairstyle could rival the “Touch My Body” singer’s bodacious locks, “I said, ‘OK, I gotta look at Mariah’s hair. I want to try for it to be as big as hers,’ because she has this naturally big, amazing hair,” Shania told the publication.

Even all these years later, some of the original women still see each other from time to time, Shania recalled fondly, “We still cross paths—it’s great. I always like to catch Mariah when she is live, and Celine, too.” Perhaps a Divas reunion is on the horizon!
