Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s love story looks to be heading in another exciting direction with news that the couple is ‘trying’ for a baby. Blake adores Gwen’s three sons and reportedly wants nothing more than to finally become a first-time father. If all goes as planned, the duo hopes to welcome their little one by next Christmas.
According to Us Weekly, Gwen “would love nothing more than to give Blake his first child. Blake is dying to be a father. He loves Gwen’s kids, [which has] made him realize he could be a good father.”
A source close to Blake told ET that the couple is also planning to tie the knot. “They are very committed to one another and this is a forever thing. However, more important to them right now is having a baby together.”
The country crooner has been a mentor on The Voice since the competition show’s inception in 2011. In an interview with ET earlier this month, the “Honey Bee” singer shared that his role on the hit music series ignited a paternal instinct in him, “I never thought in a million years when I signed on to do that show that I would ever be so defensive when it comes to reading a blog or critique about one of my artists,” he confessed, continuing, “[In the] first season or two, I couldn’t help it. I would just lose my mind when I would see someone picking on a kid, you know.”
While becoming a first-time dad is on his mind, he’s also been feeling the joys of becoming a first-time restaurant owner. Blake officially opened the doors to Ole Red Tishomingo in his home state of Oklahama on Sept. 29. In true rock star fashion, the 41-year-old christened the bar with a private performance of some of his biggest hits. Watching in the crowd was his proud girlfriend Gwen, who even hopped on stage to join her beau for a surprise duet of “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.”
