Prince Harry and Michelle Obama surprise Chicago high school students

By: Meaghan Wray

There are few things better than when the Obamas and royals join forces! Prince Harry touched down in Chicago on Tuesday (Oct 31) to participate in the Obama Foundation's inaugural summit.

The royal hit the ground running, meeting up with his pal Michelle Obama to drop in on some unsuspecting students at Hyde Park Academy. During the hour-long visit, Michelle and Harry chatted with the future leaders about staying positive in the face of adversity and the "transformative power of students using their voices to change the world."

Barack and Michelle’s friendship with Prince Harry is rooted in their service to others. The 33-year-old royal’s attendance at the conference comes after Barack showed his support for Harry’s Invictus Games in Toronto last month. The father of two helped shine a light on the royal’s work with injured service men and women by attending a wheelchair basketball game during the week-long tournament.

The politician isn’t Harry’s only cheerleader. Last year, Michelle helped the royal launch the Invictus Games in Orlando and was spotted on numerous occasions cheering on athletes from the sidelines.

Now, Harry is returning the favour by using his position to help empower young people to reach their full potential. Kensington Palace reported that the prince will promote the foundation’s Full Effect project, which aims to provide platforms for young leaders.
