Jillian Harris on holiday traditions, her wedding and plans for baby number two

By Clare Douglas

In the hustle and bustle of the festive season, Jillian Harris is focused on two things: family and giving back. "Part of what I love about Christmas is giving back [to my community]. I don’t so much enjoy the gift giving to my family. I enjoy the getting together, the wine and the food," the star told HELLO! during a recent visit to Toronto, where she helped open the Ferrero Rocher Thoughtful Giving pop-up shop at Yorkdale Mall.

In fact, helping those in need is one tradition she is determined to share with her 16-month-old son, Leo. "Seeing what is happening in our communities and how many families are in actual need of the basics ... contributing to our community is something I really want him to learn," said Jillian, who works closely with the Kelowna-based charity Mamas For Mamas.

Last year, Jillian, with Leo by her side, received the ultimate gift when her longtime love Justin Pasutto proposed on Christmas morning. "It was so special," she told us, adding that the pressure of wedding planning is building up. "I don't know where I want to have it. I don't know what I want to serve. I just can't even wrap my head around it!" The couple have been busy renovating their home, starring in a docu-series and raising Leo, but rest assured, they do plan to set a date, despite already "feeling married." "We were thinking not this coming summer, but next summer," she revealed, which, if everything goes as planned, will give her enough time to add another member to the wedding party. "We'd like to have another baby first!"

Jillian and her family will take a little break from wedding planning to enjoy each other's company over the holidays. According to the 37-year-old, Christmas at the Harris household is anything but calm. "It's absolute chaos. In the morning the babies wake up and the whole family comes over. There are, like, 27 people in house," she said, adding, "But I love the chaos." In the end, Christmas is all about being present in the moment. "It’s just about being merry and having fun and letting loose,” says the star. “I have the best memories of it as a kid and I want Leo to have the same memories."
